Farm Happenings
Bruce arrived!! For those that don't know, Bruce will be the friend of the pig we will eat. We have not found a feeder piglet yet, but are hoping one comes our way. Bruce is lonely!
The fly war has been won in the house. Outside of the house is another story. It sounds like an airplane flying over head constantly when you're sitting still because they're so loud.
The buzzing is also attributed to the carpenter bees which are terrifying! They look like big bumble bees but aren't as friendly. I'm convinced they are building a nest in a wall of the house and were going to end up on Billy the Exterminator tv show.
Chicks are doing well. One has a twisted foot and is walking goofy so we may have to cull it, aka kill it and eat it......eventually. That is, unless Erin McBride Schmars can fix it for him.
The corn has been planted and the cucumbers are sprouted!! Beans and peas are still lagging, but I can see them poking up. My tomatoes look like terrible. I fertilized them and am hoping they perk up a bit. I'm not sure if my pepper plants are pepper plants or weeds so I replanted some seed today, we'll see what happens.
Arnold the rooster is still alive and well He's in his own separate pen. Hopefully he'll get along well with the chicks. At this point, Tori has coddled him to the point of no return. I'm afraid if we ate him she would need therapy before she turns 18.
That's all for now!
