August 28, 2014

I am looking at this sunrise, and it is just too much....I can't look at it for more than a few seconds because it's beyond my human brain to comprehend this glory, our God.

Farm Happenings

We have another sick chicken. It's the same breed as the other one who became ill and died. We have her quarantined with water with the hope that she gets better. It is terribly difficult to lose an animal, even a chicken. It's sad and heartbreaking and I just want to save them all, but have to remember, they are ultimately not mine, and I can only influence so much. There is only one who controls life and death. And He is good.
We got the corral gates up for the little outdoor pen that the calves can go in. They spent the day outside today under a shade tree. Peaces leg is still draining and I hosed it down twice today and applied more swat. We're waiting to hear back from the vet.
Bethel is still being assaulted by flies. Up her nose, on her mask, congregating all over her body. Tomorrow I'm bringing in the big guns. I'm going to buy commercial chemical laden fly spray because I can't stand to see her like this anymore. She doesn't seem too bothered and the mask is a tremendous relief for her.
We had a couple young visitors this morning that cleaned out the cow pen for me. Love!! Next week when they come, were going to FINALLY get some pallets up for a pig pen.
The miserable face rash is back, aka eye rash. We've narrowed the culprit down to ragweed pollen. I took a Claritin today and it was a huge relief. I'm on the hunt for some local honey in the area to help with these allergies. I really don't want to get into beekeeping, but will do it if we have to.
Storms are rolling in, the clouds are igniting.... More storms headed our way.
